Moving Advice for Possible Grad Student (xpost from r/anchorage)

I was recently accepted to UAA for graduate school and might be moving up to Anchorage soon (still waiting to hear back from a school in Denver before I make a decision). I have been looking online (craigslist, padmapper) for apartments, but I don't really know the area too well (I've never been). I was wondering if there are any decent places close to the University where grad. students live? Also, how is the public transit? I have a car, but I'd like to use it as little possible, but I do want to get around the city (I know I'll be in school, but I definitely still want to go out a bunch). Any other tips for incoming students? Thanks!
