Positives for Victoria's Secret
I thought it might be worthwhile to give Victoria's Secret some credit where credit is due, especially since they get a bad rap (in many cases justifiably so) on this sub.
First, shout out to everyone for teaching me how to get fitted. About four months ago I went and got myself fitted (before this site) to a 38D, though after I found this site I did find that the bra fit pretty well and didn't really think there was anything wrong. I have a wide rib cage despite my weight so it made sense.
Anyway, I've been wearing that one bra since and I decided I needed another. The band was getting stretched out and such so it was pretty much done. I went back in to VS and grabbed the size I was (38D), and a few others (38DD, 36D, 36DD) to check fit. Anyway, long story short, I was having trouble because none seemed quite right so I got some help from the fitter. I pointed out all the problems I was having for each (gore not taking quite right, cup not fitting around my boob or else gapping at the top, etc), and we had a very informative discussion. She brought me some others and we pretty much sat there and debated sizing for a good fifteen minutes before she finally decided that the problem must be the style. I was skeptical but she came back, bringing a few sizes. However, the size she'd been suggesting in the new style was perfect. Woo 36D.
Anyway, though she did not completely measure and fit me from scratch, she was very knowledgeable and between the two of us were able to have an intelligent session finding something that fit right.
So theres at least one point for VS :)
Edit
Hahaha, I swear to God guys, it fits. I measure a 35in in band, which I round up to a 36 (I have since tried on a 34 in several sizes but they were all breath constrictingly tight, unless the cups were so large they dwarfed my boobs and my entire front). I measured myself at a 41.5 leaning over and something like a 40 standing, and a 39 lying down.
Someone has correctly mentioned that I had previously (a few months ago on my first visits here) stated that I might be a 36FF. Straight from those measurements, that would be true. Logically, I had rounded to a 7 inch difference (FF) and to a band size of 36. Therefore, 36FF. And while I have not gotten ahold of a FF, I have gotten ahold of DDD (UK F), and DD (UK E), and both gap wildly at the top, and the DDD gaps on both the top and sides. (perhaps my boobs are bottom heavy?) In fact, I was skeptical of trying on a D, and was very insistent that we stick to DD and up, but they really did not fit. They were gapping and pokey and while better than my old one, not quite right. Finally I relented and let her get me one, figuring that it would be too small (after all my 38D was starting to be to small in the cup) but lo and behold, it worked. I was surprised and meticulously checked for any possible problems. Literally, I had them written down. I checked.
But 36D fit perfectly according to every manual on here. Gore tacks perfectly, wire is on my side enclosing my entire boobs but without poking. No gapping. Band sits level on my back. Minimal weight is carried by the straps. Scoop & Swoop.
As an aside on the bra itself, I swear guys. Its magic and awesome. I almost don't wanna take it off to go to sleep, it feels so nice.
I know everyone is skeptical of VS, and I was too, and was all prepared to point out all the things that were wrong with the various ones I tried on, but not only did she agree with me, she also was able troubleshoot how to fix those. To those who are asking, she did not measure me (as I had already done that myself) and so we used my current bra and the ones I tried on as a reference. I mostly led the size selection all the way up to the end, with her helping me to analyze the problems, which she was quite good at.**
