Looking to purchase 200-250 Bitcoins w/o going through an Exchange (looking for tips, help, suggestions)

The title says it all, really. I've browsed through all the links in the How to buy bitcoins link to the right, but none of it's very personal options, most are exchanges, and what avenues that don't nickle & dime the transfer are all for smaller sums than what I'm looking for, take weeks if not longer to validate an account, or come with horror stories.

So I come to you wonderful men for help, perhaps you have gone through a similar circumstance, or "know a guy" or just have someplace to direct me.
