Hey ! Although I have played music for a while now I am completely new to the world of recording and production. Could a kind fellow on this subreddit give me the low-down on what resources I am going to need to record guitar and vocals.

As the title sates i am a complete newbie in terms of of recording. I have attempted recording music with what resources and experience I currently have. As avid fans of music production your ears will probably bleed when you listen to it.

First proper attempt

I literally did this by plugging my guitar into my amp and then plugging the computer into it through the line in. Also I recorded the so-called 'Percussion' by hitting the back of my guitar with a mic next to it. Now I am pretty sure this is not the best way to do this. So my question to you is what do I do to get the most out of my recording and at the best quality. And of cause, what equipment will I need. I apologise you may need to explain this to my like a am a mentally challenged child as I don't know ANYTHING about recording.
