A League of Its Own

In the latest episode of Link to the Past, Jon said Skyrim is in "a league of it's own, it's so good." Although he didn't elaborate he said Fallout is completely different. So, in a less douchey way, he said, "Fallout is nothing like Skyrim, cuz Skyrim is way fucking better." So does a game's quality make it incomparable to other games? I know I'm kind of putting words in Jon's mouth here, but hear me out. Fallout is made by the same developer, and is in the same genre as the Elder Scrolls, but Jon said that they shouldn't be compared because Skyrim is too good to be compared to any game. What? Skyrim is a game, thus is should be compared to other games. It's not immune to being critiqued and compared to other games because that's what it is. A game. That's like is I said I liked Super Mario Galaxy 2 more than Bioshock Infinite. (which I do.) You can't just say, "You can't compare those! They're completely different and Bioshock is literally Jesus." Well, they are both video games, and both seek to engage players in the game, thus they can be compared. If I like 3D Platforming more than First person Shooters, I can compare them to each other's gameplay elements in order to illustrate my point.

Just my two cents. Through your hat in the ring if you want to.

EDIT: Sorry if I made it sound like I was arguing with Jon. I was just trying to take that statement and respond to it. Not just in the context of GameGrumps.
