Prom Question: suit or tux? (yes i read the sidebar)

Hey, it is my senior year and I just got my first suit for my 18th birthday, it is being tailored right now. Is it better to wear this suit which will fit me perfectly or is it better to rent a tux which will probably not be as good a fit? [the article on the side bar] (http://www.socialprimer.com/2012/02/prom-greek-formal-guide-for-guys/) says it is acceptable to wear a suit but it is not generally recommended, would my situation be one of those exceptions where it is a good idea? EDIT: one more question, if i go with the suit how do i wear the boutonniere. do suits have a place for them?
