Is it safe to put an enameled broiler pan in the oven on self-clean?

I have an enameled broiler pan that's gotten a layer of baked-on crud on the edges that's almost impossible to scrub off. Can I cheat and put it in the oven while I do a self-clean cycle, or will I end up with molten pan?
