My apartment complex in Los Angeles provides wi-fi and was one of the reasons I chose this place. I just a got a letter they won't be providing it anymore... is there any way I can get my rent lowered?
The first communication said that the complex couldn't keep up with the growing needs and technology so they would no longer be providing internet.
Next was this letter: Dear Tenant:
As you are aware from previous communication effective June 1, 2013 the property will no longer provide internet service to tenants and you will be responsible for contracting your own service. Since your lease agreement goes beyond June 1st, as a courtesy ownership will be giving you a onetime credit in the amount of $35 towards your June 2013 rent to cover the reduction of internet services. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter please feel free to contact...
In the lease it says that if management discontinues internet services, rent will be reduced $5. My lease has seven months left so I assume they're lumping it into one credit of $35.
If there anything I can do to get my rent lowered? Should I write them a letter stating grievances? It was kind of false-advertising... Is it worth fighting them?
