My friend, an Ethiopian immigrant taxi-cab driver, who was about to visit his family in Ethiopia and bring them here to New Orleans, was murdered.

He was so softspoken and calm. And only 35.

Living alone here in New Orleans, working long hours at the wheel, he was struggling for his family back home in Ethiopia.

I would see him at the mosque, and would chat. I once asked him for the key, and he rightly stalled(I only visit the downtown mosque here once a week anyway). He wouldn't talk too much, he was very polite and reserved. Looking back, and thinking about his pensive face - he must've been preoccupied by his family back in Ethiopia - a country where struggle is life...

And he was murdered by multiple gunshot wounds, crashing into a tree, at 1 AM.

I don't want to ask for money, or anything. If you would only hear the story.

But in the wake of a tragedy, a silver lining. Reddit, it motivates me to be my best.

It motivates me, to seize the day. At 28, will I see tomorrow? Nobody knows, but it motivates me to see today through.

EDIT: Thank you all for your support. Regarding donating to Seicho's family, as of today there is not an easy way online. I also looked into some way to donate to the beleaguered New Orleans taxi-drivers(within the last 19 years 23 cabdrivers in New Orleans were killed on the job), but no luck . I'll keep searching.. thank you.
