Accepted! Reservations about Computer Science...

Hi! I was recently accepted to the University in March and I intend on studying Computer Science in the coming months.

I've heard a couple negatives regarding the CS program at UChi, particularly the fact that (a) it carries a relatively low reputation in the field among employers compared to its peers and (b) it's focused primarily on theory with little regard to practical applications, and, as such, there are certain holes in the education.

Can anyone here help alleviate some of these concerns? As someone who has long desired to study CS with already a strong foundation in the field, this is certainly somewhat alarming and at least worthy of some consideration.
