[Build Complete] "Mainframe" - $4K Gaming PC/Media Server, 25 TB storage
2500k 4.5GHz, 2x 670 FTW+, 16 GB Memory, 25 TB of storage.
I've been using and building this beast over the last year so some of the components (like the 2500k) are a bit dated. This computer serves as a media server for myself and several friends using Plex and Subsonic, and I will be hosting a website as well. I enjoy gaming and love realistic graphics so there's some graphics overkill here.
Performance notes:
- 2500k is running at 4.5 GHz on stock voltage
- H100 is running without fans - just the 2 200MM case fans above it.
- 670's have 110% power target, +75 MHz GPU (started at 1006 MHz factory OC), and +1.5 GHz memory OC (yes, it's stable!).
- With these clocks, the system can run a GPU and CPU burn test for hours without getting noticeably louder than it is at idle. The CPU never exceeds 74C and the GPUs never exceed 81C.
Other random facts:
-
Fans: 1 140mm at front (max speed, blowing in), 1 120mm against the 5 hard drives (min, blowing in), 1 200mm angled in the middle (max, blowing back), 2 200mm in the top (max, blowing out), 1 120mm in back (min, blowing out). As I said, no fans on the H100.

I got the hard drives when Walmart was discontinuing the WD Essentials external. 7 3TB drives for $169 each, 2 2TB for $139, which in late 2011 was a steal. No warranty because I removed them from the enclosures.

The Ceton InfiniTV 4 works extremely well for recording TV with Verizon FiOS in Windows Media Center.

Cable management is not the best. Considering everything in here, I think it's pretty good. Having said that...
-
My only regret: I wish that I would have spent a little more and gotten a bunch of matching SATA cables. The mismatching looks a tad tacky.
