Tell me about Roslindale! (Moving)
I'm (mid-20s female) moving to the Boston area this summer. I found a pretty nice apartment near Roslindale Village that fits my family's needs and budget, but before any paperwork goes down I want to get a better idea of what we're getting ourselves into. I've been reading about all the different neighborhoods for weeks, but I can't seem to get a solid idea of what Roslindale is like. Some sources suggest it's kind of sketchy/unsafe, but other sites make it seem like it's a standard middle-class neighborhood, maybe even a little "cooler" with some bars, restaurants, and some small/cute independently owned shops.
What's the overall feel of Roslindale? Who, if anyone, would be out of place there?
Is Roslindale sketchy? If so, how sketchy?
How much sketchier does it get at night?
Will I (small white female) be able to safely commute via public transit?
Are there any places I should avoid?
I'd love to hear just about anything you have to say about this neighborhood! Thanks to anyone who replies!
