Touring from Atlanta to St Petersburg, Florida, what should I consider?
I'm considering a minimalist/lightweight journey from Atlanta to St Petersburg Florida. I would start in Griffin, Georgia and avoid the Atlanta urban mess and pedal south. The journey is estimated at 450 miles and 37 hours per Google Maps. My goal would be about 75 miles a day for 6 days. I have all the gear from previous journeys and a cyclocross bike which has served well in the past for this purpose (Specialized Tricross). About 50 miles south of the starting point it gets to be some really flat farm country for the rest of the journey. The plan is to camp behind churches/sneak camp and eat at local restos. -Is this doable? Pace logical? What should I consider?
