Ticketed for Possession of Marijuana in Oregon

I was caught smoking a joint last night by 3 cops. Even though my friends were there, I took full responsibility. I have read up on diversion and that seems to be the only way to keep this off my record (I have no priors of any sort, first ticket).

My question is if applying for a medical marijuana card now would help my situation at all? I have been on anti-depressants and anxiety medication for years and have been encouraged to apply.
