How come I see pictures of speakers with 4 inputs on the back? I humbly propose a periodic stupid question thread.

I'm slowly trying to get in to audiophilia so I have been surfing this sub for a while. Unfortunately, most of the information on this sub caters to people with a fairly in-depth knowledge of all things audio - which makes perfect sense (people with shared hobbies need a place to gather and discuss said hobby), but also makes it difficult for newbies to get the kind of education they need (aside from the ubiquitous 'looking for recommendations for...' posts). Would it be possible to do as many subs do and start a periodic stupid question thread? I figure they could serve as a good starting point for budding audiophiles, and could potentially end up on the sidebar as a 'new to r/audiophile FAQs'.
