Final alarms for volunteer non-LODDs?
Today, we just laid to rest a long serving member of our company. He wasn't the typical life member: he actually contributed around the station and was an integral part of the company. He served for a long time, then took a break, and came back and has been with us since. He died from health issues, but we gave him a full firefighter funeral. (Two of his family members are also members of the company.)
We did a final alarm for him, which is rubbing some people around the area the wrong way. So I ask you, r/firefighting, is it appropriate to do a final alarm for a non-LODD tenured (but still active) member?
