I'm done.

So it all started about two months ago when I told my dad that I didn't want to be confirmed into the Catholic Church because of my objection to the views they have on homosexuality, abortion, and birth control. After enough arguing and such (and agreeing to talk to a priest; I knew nothing was going to change after the talk, I just did it to get my father to relent), he finally dropped it. Now and again, he'd make comments about "bleebl00 the atheist" in a condescending tone, with my mom saying things like, "I don't agree with what the Church says on homosexuality, but I'm still a member of it". Fine, whatever. I got out of Confirmation, so I could care less.

Then comes today. So in the morning, I made a comment on a FaceBook friend's post about how abortion is wrong and yadda yadda yadda. She and I both replied a few more times, but she kept bringing up how not considering a fetus as a human life is similar to what happened with slavery here in America. I knew that this parallel was complete and utter bullshit, and I was trying to think of a way to combat it. So I asked my dad and he replied, "Well I'm against abortion". (Side note: he supports a woman's right to choose, but at the same time, he thinks that abortion is wrong because it's killing a human being.) Then, we got into a heated debate that was very similar to the one that we'd routinely have before the whole Confirmation ordeal. After a few minutes of this, he says something along the lines of, "Well hanging the niggers was viewed as acceptable at the time, but that was morally wrong. And what about your girlfriend's ancestors?" (Another side note: we had just gotten out of 42, the Jackie Robinson movie, where they used the n-word quite a bit. I'm thinking that this caused him for some weird reason to say it, because he's never said it before. And my girlfriend's ancestors aren't even African-American, they're Portuguese.) At this point, I was absolutely livid. He'd routinely bring up my girlfriend up before ("What does your girlfriend think? Would you believe the same thing that you believe if she was a Catholic?" and the like), but never like this. Quickly thereafter, I called him a a piece of shit and he fired the same insult right back at me. We go on debating, back and forth. I eventually tell him that it's terrible that he brought her into this and used that word, to which he replied that he said those things in order to "gain my attention", which is a load of bullshit. We then go on discussing things and he says that I'm becoming morally irreprehensible. And then he drops a few more fucktons of something that I can't really describe except for calling it really, really moronic. "It's easier to die than to live. Abortion isn't morally correct because it's an human life.", and a whole bunch of other things that I've either forgotten or just too lazy to remember. When we pulled up to a gas station, that was the end of it. I haven't said a single word to him since then and I'm livid.

TL;DR: Dad uses n-word and references girlfriend during abortion debate.
