Finding someone in high school.
Let's just set the scene here:
I'm a senior in a private school in a tiny tobacco-farming town. As far as I know, I'm one of two gay guys in the school (The other is currently in an ltr with someone back in China). Obviously, I have suspicions about a couple people, but I have no idea how to really tell, or how to ask. Or even if I should ask.
I've considered coming out (publicly) to just kind of get out there, but that's not really the best idea for a myriad of reasons (bullying, etc), and perhaps I'm nervous because it's not the happiest place in the world.
I also have grindr, but that doesn't help. According to the app there's no one within a 10-mile radius. And they all just want to hook up. I don't.
The point being this: I'd really like to find somebody, in a long-term sort of way. I'm far too self-concious for hook-ups and I don't just want this for the sex anyhow. And part of it is I just kind of want to be a normal teenager for once, if that makes any sense.
Anyway, I don't know how. I don't have anywhere near enough confidence in myself to make that judgement, though a couple years of totally straight crushes and consequent rejection have pretty much shown me that my judgement is horrible regardless of whether or not I have confidence.
So, I present my question: How can I tell? Is it possible? Am I being a drama queen? What is a guy to do?
