I resent my mother for how she's raised me.
Not in some "My mom wouldn't buy me an X-box!" kind of way, because she's put me through years of private school. I thank her immensely for that. It's just that she sees everything in terms of dollar signs, referring to me and my siblings as "investments". She constantly tells me that I'm just like my father, an especially biting statement considering that divorced when I was seven and she refers to him as an alcoholic bum. Probably the biggest thing I resent her for, though, is the fact that she's left me unable to talk about emotional issues with any family members. Today, I came down from my room with really red eyes. Her immediate reaction was to jokingly say: "Quit your balling, you look like a baby girl." I just smiled and nodded. I can't talk about my bi-sexuality with any family members because of her deflections of anything emotional.
I really don't like feeling this way, especially since she's done so much for me, but I can't help feeling like she thinks I'm only as good as the amount of return I bring to her investment.
Edit: I'm not totally emotionally crippled. I'm really open with friends and even strangers. It's only my family that I can't open up to.
