It hurt like hell but (f22) it gets better.

So my ex (M22) broke up with me a while ago, we were long distance, I had just been diagnosed with cancer with a job that made me miserable, we were constantly fighting and just not in the same place in our lives. It hurt like hell and I really didn't think I could ever get over him. I really thought I was going to marry this guy for real but at last life doesn't really work out how you think. In fact, it can get better. I was told yesterday that I'm making great progress with treatment and that after a scheduled surgery, I should be cancer free! I got hired at the job of my dreams in one of the most beautiful places in the world with better pay and benefits and coworkers than my old job and got accepted into school to get my Ph.D in a field that is extremely competitive. I have been given the ability to travel for 4 months before my job starts and have enough money saved to do so comfortably. I've lost weight, reconnected with people and fell back in love with myself. Breakups hurt and suck, they're awful and change you as person, but sometimes they do it for the better.
