ROUND FORTY-SIX OF THE NPC TOURNAMENT: Paladin Leeroy VS Lord's Blade Ciaran!
Sorry about not posting yesterday, I fell asleep midway through writing it
RULES OF THE TOURNAMENT AND OTHER INFORMATION. READ BEFORE POSTING.
-
Please quit with the comments about how this tournament is "a farce" and "stupid" and a "popularity poll." I'm trying hard to make this work, and those kinds of comments aren't helping. If you're going to comment, make it to do with your opinion on who would win.
-
I have now enabled contest mode. Votes cannot be seen.
-
NPCs cannot heal unless they have a spell to do so.
-
NPCs start 15 meters from each other.
-
NPCs can only use the armor and weapons they fight the player with in game. So no Greatbow for Gough.
-
NPCs that use spells have infinite casts, EXCEPT for the Darkmoon Knightess, who has exactly 5 casts of Darkmoon Blade. (This is how it is in-game)
-
NPCs that sell items such as Green Blossoms and Firebombs MAY use them. Armor, weapons, and healing items they sell are NOT USED.
-
All fights take place in Artorias' Colosseum. It's as fair as it can be. I held a vote, there's nothing more I can do about it, so please refrain from making any comments about it.
-
If a caster sells a spell, they can use it. This goes for Laurentius, Logan, Griggs, and so on. There are exceptions, however, such as Patches being unable to use Great Heal, despite his selling of it.
-
Certain non-fighting NPCs were left out. Rhea, who only fights with her fists, was also omitted.
-
No fan-boying. This is a serious discussion, which we're looking at realistically. Someone said in the first post that "Solaire or Tarkus" will win. No. We don't know that yet. Take fights as they come, and think about who would win realistically. If you think this is a popularity contest then don't bother coming to this thread.
-
The personality and intellect of NPCs IS taken into account, as well as their lore. Dumb moments in their AI are not taken into account. (Such as Solaire's inability to aim his damn lightning spears) We're treating this as if they had their full set of skills and were as capable at using them as they should be.
If any of these new rules particularly irk you, take it up with me in a PM. I don't want these threads to be any further polluted by complaints.
ROUND FORTY-SIX, LEEROY VS CIARAN
Last time, you voted for HAWKEYE GOUGH over SOLAIRE OF ASTORA in a vote of 163 to 48!
Here's the spreadsheet containing a list of all NPCs participating and their brackets.
Now, time for a brief analysis of both NPCs in this round.
PALADIN LEEROY
Paladin Leeroy is a very high-ranking follower of the Way of White covenant, mysteriously turned Darkwraith. His armor is the Paladin Set, which has very high physical defense and 52 poise. His weapon, the Grant does HUGE damage. At high level, I believe it has one of the highest ARs, if not the highest in the game. (This is split between physical and magical, however) It's slow, but hits like a truck. It also has a special "WOTG" style attack, which does a lot of damage. His shield, the Sanctus offers decent stability, as well as a solid 95% physical damage reduction. His shield also regenerates his HP slowly, and he can parry with it. Leeroy has Wrath of The Gods, which does considerable damage, and can also be used to stun Ciaran and possibly cancel a backstab attempt. He also has one of the healing spells, presumably Great Heal, which he could probably use his poise to cast. Leeroy fat rolls. Leeroy's personality and intellect are completely unknown, but the fact that he made it all the way to Nito is a testament to his strength. His main advantage his his poise and damage output. His main disadvantage is his slow speed.
LORD'S BLADE CIARAN
Ciaran is one of the Four Knights of Gwyn, a formidable assassin, who relies on quick movement to dispatch her foes. She wields two weapons. In her right hand, the Dark Silver Tracer, which can do lethal backstab damage (She cannot parry with the Gold Tracer) and can toxify her enemies. In her left hand, the Gold Tracer, a fast, flashy weapon with low damage but quick bleed build-up and a fast hit-rate. Her armor, the Lord's Blade Set offers a crappy 20 poise (So she would be stunned by two arrows, if not one) and low physical defense, but she can fast roll in it. This gives her an edge against heavier enemies. Ciaran also has the Hornet Ring, granting her additional backstab damage. Her HP is the second highest of any NPC, at a huge 2800. She is probably quite intelligent considering her status as both a Lord's Blade and a Knight of Gwyn. Her main advantage would be her speed and high HP.
