There should be a FAQ on the sidebar or something

I see a lot of posts starting with "noob here" and things of that nature so why don't we have a beginners guide to mining on the sidebar or something? I'm new to the whole concept, and I didn't want to make another "noob here with questions" thread. I made an account on https://mining.bitcoin.cz/, and then downloaded the last guiminer. I still have some questions though. For example, how do I find my bitcoin address? And in the GUIIMiner, what server and what device should I use? Also, is it worth mining on my laptop running linux? How many miners can you run at once? What pool should I mine in?

Here is a decent guide I found on a bitcoin forum.
