What is the best way to stop emotional eating?
Ever since I was young, whenever I was sick or upset my parent's would always comfort me with food. It worked. It would make me feel better, and suddenly I would be happy again. Understandably so, food became my tool for making me feel better. As a lonely kid with low self esteem I used that tool a lot. It lead to me being overweight as a teenager, and developing an incredibly unhealthy relationship with food.
That unhealthy relationship with food got worse after I went on a diet at the age of 14 and lost 15 pounds. Ever since then I have slowly lost more weight, totaling a lose of over 30 pounds. One would think that me losing weight would have rid me of my emotional eating, but it hasn't. Now instead of just being an emotional eater, I am obsessed with food. Food is always on my mind, and I am always worried about what I will eat next and if it will be healthy or not. I guess the constant stress of what I will eat next makes me break down and binge on unhealthy food.
So I guess what I am really asking is, how do I stop my obsession with food? How do I stop stressing out about whether or not I am eating healthy? Basically, how do I eat like a normal person, and not always worry lol.
