Chronology of Old/New Testament books and sources + Question.
I know that i can go onto a few sites and get chronology of these books. If i go to christian sites it tells me one thing, if i go to independent sites i get another. I even found one christian site that was the midway between the 2.
Anyways, here is my question. I read books from the likes of Bart D. Ehrman, Richard Elliot Friedman, Richard Carrier, etc. I hear all kinds of things about bible history, and theyll say " Mainstream scholars agree that.. the 4 gospels were not written by their namebearers"
Great ok fine, but when i go tell someone this, they respond with " Wheres the source, or how do you know they arent lying. Everyone has an agenda, how do you know they dont"
So , this might be a bit of an odd question, but is there some kind of compendium or catalog of
- Claim X a. Sources for Claim X b. Historians that acknowledge it c. Credibility for said historians etc
I hate being at the complete mercy of the scientists or historians. I would love to just read what they say and know that they are right etc. However i even then get some situations where Richard Carrier and Bart Ehrman disagree on certain points, and now i just have no idea who i can follow, i because i respect them both equally, and i am too layman to make a decision on who i can follow on that without experiencing some form of confirmation bias.
Any help would be great, thank you
