Getting more mixed signals from him (23m) than a traffic light in a blender. Help me? (20f)
I could really appreciate some help with this one, as my friends and I are absolutely stumped by some of the shit this guy is pulling, so thanks in advance! The time period of all this is from early-mid March until now.
I’m in my last year of college, so I’ve reached the point to where I don’t really want to date any of the guys I already know, so I joined okcupid awhile ago just to have another way to meet people. Most of the time I don’t really respond to messages (they’re normally RILL RILL weird), but this one guy’s message caught my eye and we started messaging. Eventually we hit it off, and I'm all smooth and give him my number and we arrange a first date. You know, totally normal. We meet and have coffee and talk for three hours, and it goes honestly really great. Like it was so awesome just to be able to talk to someone for that long without being bored.
After this date we text a lot, I'm being charming as hell, so is he, everything is great. Then he asks me out again, this time to go play trivia which didn't pan out, so we ended up having drinks and talking for another 3 hours, again everything going really well and I'm thinking "Well shit, is this actually going somewhere?" After we share the most awkward first kiss ever, but it was more funny than cringey, and he specifically asks to see me again. Cool, right?
Well then shit gets a little weird.
So we're still texting a lot. Like big ol' long text message CONVERSATIONS. Then it kind of dies out for a couple days, I start wondering if he actually wants to see me again. So the next week (Around a week after our second date) I just ovary up and ask him out, and after a day (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one) he texts me back and enthusiastically agrees. So totally not a big deal at all, it was really my turn to ask him out anyway.
We go to a movie and I invite him back over to my house to just hang out, if you know what I mean. Well of course one thing lead to another and he spent the night, and it was really fun, and he was really affectionate, unlike most of the guys I've been with. In the morning he didn't rush out, either, he even remarked something along the lines of that I had thought he would leave as soon as possible, but now I can't get him to leave hardy har har (I did have to go to my hometown early that morning, so this makes sense). He kisses me goodbye and everything and obviously I’m in a great mood.
Anyway, after all this I'm feeling good. Like for the first time in awhile, I think I've found this guy who likes all the same stuff I like, who's attractive and funny, and who SEEMS to be pretty into me. But... Things have gotten weird.
After he stayed over we texted a lot for about a week, and it wasn't weird or anything, he would even include some silly videos of himself, so I assume he's comfortable with me. After a couple of days it kind of died off again, and he didn’t ask me out. So I waited a couple of days, and last Sunday (April 6th) I texted him: “Hey, I’d like to see you again, and if you’re still interested… Then we should do that?” to which he responded to enthusiastically to and said he had been busy this weekend. We texted regularly until Monday (April 15th), when he answered a text of mine with like a single word, you know, kind of killing the conversation, still not having asked me out.
So I don’t know what to do. It seems like there could be something there, but I’m not sure if he’s even into me or not. I’m attractive, we had good sex, we have a good time talking to each other… So why hasn’t he asked me out again? My friends think he’s waiting for me to ask him out again, but I’m not sure. I’ve been hurt and embarrassed in situations like these before, so obviously I’m a little scared of all of this. So, do I just forget about him? If we didn’t have such good chemistry I totally would have written him off by now, but idk, just a lot of the things he's said and done make me think he's into me, but being weird about it.
