Dark Souls not responding

Hey guys, I played a little of Dark Souls on my friends 360 and liked it. I decided to buy the game back in November-ish and haven't get it running successfully since... I have been to a lot of websites with different suggestions but nothing has worked. I got it running once for like 20 minutes but the controls were all screwed up... My current problem is it starts up a black window and then says not responding. I really would appreciate the help :(
