Why do the imported swords suck?

Playing Witcher 2 after beating 1 and it just seems that the high level end game swords from witcher ` are low level swords in Witcher 2. Granted during the intro they were ok, but im in Chapter 1 and common swords seem better.

Am I missing something. Is there any reason to keep them?
