Did God make a mistake?

Genesis 2:18... Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”

I understand from my reading of Theology of the Body that because of Adam's original solitude he was able to understand who he was in relation to the rest of creation, and to then truly appreciate the creation of the first woman. But, I find it curious that the wording in Genesis suggests that God, in hindsight, realized He created a situation that was "not good" and then had to act to remedy the situation (i.e. - put Adam to sleep and create Eve from his rib).

If God's intent was to instruct Adam through his original solitude, why then describe that situation as "not good"?

Any thoughts?
