I have an idea but I don't know if it's right for Kickstarter or if it will be successful. What do you think?

Discussion

So I'm in a band that's been together for 3 years and gone through some very rough periods. We've decided to get back on our feet and have started writing lyrics and will soon begin composing songs for our debut EP.

My Kickstarter idea is to raise money for an Album Launch/Mini-tour documentary. Basically people would be funding to support 3 different causes that we bundled into one. The Kickstarter funding price I had in mind was about 6,000 dollars, maybe more depending on the prizes we decide to give away.

The money would go towards buying recording equipment for the band (I have a small studio in my basement and recording experience, but I'm missing some of the key ingredients due to some recent events), buying CDs and paying for digital distribution costs, and helping us fund a couple shows to start off a small tour (perhaps 3-5 states). It would also cover the cost of a decent camera, and whatever software is required to create the documentary.

The documentary would be offered in the form of a free bi-daily vlog, and it would follow us through every step from writing, to composing, to recording, to distributing the album, to playing shows. The first video of the series would double as our Kickstarter intro video, and it would discuss what makes our band different from the rest, the struggles that have gotten us into our unique situation, and the goals we aim to achieve with the aid of funders.

Do you think this would be a successful campaign? Is it even right for Kickstarter? I could use all the help and advice I can get
