Thinking about buying my first camera, looking for any advice!

Hey r/Cameras! I'm recently considering spending about 400-600 dollars on a camera. I'm not very familiar with the different types that are available and was hoping I would be able to find some assistance on Reddit! Lately I've just wanted a camera so i can capture memories of my family and friends, Not looking to become a professional photographer, just need a quality camera that will last.

As I stated earlier I'm fairly inexperienced in this subject so i came to ask the people who know it best! Also, I'm not afraid of reading so if anyone has any guides or comparison lists feel free to link them, any advice helps! :)
