Help with overheating MacBook Pro
I have a 2009 MacBook Pro. The processor idles between 45˚C and 50˚C. Under load, it will get as high as 95˚C, even with both fans fixed at 6000 RPM using smcFanControl. The GPU diode gets up to about 80˚C if I run a game, but it has always done that, and I've stopped gaming on it. I make sure the vent next to the hinge is not blocked, and that it's not on a surface that will hold heat up against the case. I opened up to make sure there was no dust and there wasn't any (appreciable amount) that I could see. This problem didn't develop overnight, but now the temps are high enough that I know if I don't do something, I'll ruin the computer.
The only other idea I had was to get some thermal paste and try to work on the heat sink. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
