I average between 10-15k/day and hit the gold cap today - AMA!

Before anyone points it out, I am aware of r/wowgoldmaking. But with barely more than 2.5k subs, I figured I'll be able to reach more players here.

Gold Cap!

In-Game Gold Statistics!

I started WoW during TBC, but my days as a gold maker started in WotLK, trying to get that repair mount. Endless hours spent farming ore nodes and flipping small items. As you can probably imagine, this wasn't very effective. I quit WotLK mid-ICC around Feb 2010 with roughly 17k gold. Someone brought me back to WoW over two years later, during the end of Cataclysm (who then left the server soon after, qq). I had used the SoR to faction change, so I was left here, alone.

During this time, I was interested in LoL and watched streams on twitch.tv regularly. One day, I saw that WoW had its own streaming section and I checked it out to see that there was some gold maker guy streaming how he makes his gold. I spent a few days learning the basics on his stream and downloaded Auctionator and TSM soon thereafter.

After some time with his tutorial on TSM, I began my journey long campout near goblin butts. Within 3 months, I had racked up over 600k gold before quitting in October of last year, as it had become too distracting for me cause I had to get my shit together, basically.

I came back late February this year and made 500k more within two months. If you're wondering where 100k went, I bought the yak.

Just to get a few questions out of the way:

Q: What addons do you use?
A: For gold making, just Auctionator and TradeSkillMaster and its various components.

Q: Which markets do you play?
A: JC mainly with transmog/77-79 Cata greens as a side business. I use Alchemy to supply my gems by xmuting. I find flasks and potions have too small of a profit margin on my server.

Q: What server are you on?
A: Some people take this game way too seriously when it comes to gold, so I am not going to post any identifying information. I will say, however, I am on a medium pop server, as I find it to be a good balance between competition and buyers.

Q: Any general tips?
A: It is difficult to make gold outside of professions, so I recommend getting max profs first. I started as Mining/JC, but dropped Mining when I realized how much time (and money!) I waste when I could be hugging goblin auctioneers all day and undercutting for more sales. Alchemy is a great compliment to JC with being able to xmute green gems to rares.

Q: Any alts?
A: Aside from my main you see here, I have an 90 with BS/Mining, but I find it difficult to do much of anything with it. I pretty much only use it to make buckles and supply my main with Trillium for Living Steel xmutes. I also have an 80 with Ench/Tailoring. Since I can't get any rep yet, I don't have most of the patterns that actually make gold, so I use her to run my xmog auctions.

I'm not too sure what questions would interest you guys, so feel free to ask! I'll do my best to answer every question.
