PCOS and Me.
Quick edit (April 14, 2013): I've done acupuncture for PCOS and that works fine as well. I've combined it with the birth control pills. I've stopped for the moment due to cost now that I'm back in college again. Also, I'll be starting a keto diet very soon, thanks to all the wonderful information I've received and researched. Wish me luck!
So uh, let me start off my introducing myself~.
I go by the name of Maru or Kitty, you choose and I've just found this subreddit. I have to say, after reading stories about other females struggling with this, I gathered up the courage to post. I'm sorry in advanced if this isn't so interesting.
The summer before I started my Freshman year in college, I suddenly fell completely ill, dealing with extremely sharp pains. It got so bad to the point that I had to get hospitalized.. I've spent almost two days waiting for test results and such until I was finally told I have a very large cyst on one of my ovaries. To this point, I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS yet.. They said having cysts are normal, so they just kept me under observation for a few days. That was all.
It wasn't until multiple hospital visits and such that I was FINALLY thrown to an Endocrinologist. It was there where I was told that I have something called PCOS. I was prescribed Metformin and that was all.. Being as my parents are from another country, they actually met with an Endocrinologist that worked with PCOS cases so I decided to go ahead and give them the blood work results. I started a different kind of treatment for a year and half before heading to Ecuador. I had to get an ultrasound done before finally meeting this wonderful doctor.
"There is nothing around your ovaries."
That was the best news I've heard in such a long time. Soon it was time to meet this person and everything went great. Unfortunately, much later I became sick again and my period just completely stopped for almost a year. I decided to work with only a Gynecologist here in the USA instead of with an Endocrinologist, due to the terrible experience I've had with one.
It's been almost two years and I'm feeling fantastic. I was suffering from high levels of testosterone, which I had no clue about. My kind Gyno placed me on low dose birth control. I've just recently went in for my yearly ultrasound. I'm cyst free again.
Now I need to beat the weight this horrible sickness made me gain. I have to say... The person I'm in a relationship with has been so great with supporting me through all of this. Of course.. I wasn't so okay with sharing what was wrong with me..
It call came down to one night where I decided to suck it up and tell him, crying. Since this is a LDR, his words were something that brought me great comfort.. We met up last July and we've never been happier. I'm grateful to have someone who cares and worries over me.. Accepts me for who I am, no matter how I look.
Well.. that's my story. If anyone has some sort of.. I suppose, guidance for weight loss results, I'll greatly appreciate it.
Thank you very much for reading this. Have a lovely weekend.
