El Espíritu de la colmena (The Spirit of the Beehive) (1973) - Film Discussion

I decided to watch El Espíritu de la colmena since it received high praise from Roger Ebert, and is currently available on Hulu. I haven't had a lot of time to analyze the themes or meaning of the film, but I will say that the performances were fantastic. I usually dislike child actors, and it seems to me that they often lack a good understanding of their material, but Ana Torrent and Isabel Telleria both deliver restrained, captivating performances. I really appreciated the subtlety of the film as well, and thought that the cinematography was fantastic. What did you think, r/TrueFilm?
