Recruiter says no intel jobs available, suggests Comm if I want a clearance, skills.

Quick rundown: 26, BA and Masters, looking to enlist in the reserves, 84 QFAT on the pretest. I'm just sort of floating right now and not sure what I want to do with my life. I want to learn a trade to help me down the line.

I was set on intel but my recruiter doesn't have anything available for my region. He says he's never had a reservist go intel, just based on the area we're in (Northern VA.) He actually showed me the records for the past three years of everyone who came through the station and their assigned MOS. True to his word, no intel, mostly 03, some admin, some Comm.

My goals are to gain skills I can use later on in my career and to obtain a secret. Being an 06 on recruiting duty, he rec'd I look into Comm. Does this seem like a logical selection for me? Or should I look elsewhere? I've kicked the tires of the other branches and I can't imagine going anywhere else.

The recruiter has no jobs available until Oct, so it's not as if he's trying to plug a hole.

The recruiter mentioned he may be able to "trade" a slot with another station, but that it would be unlikely. He also suggested, with some reluctance, that I could also visit other stations/locations(?) to see other options in the Corps. I'm confused as to how that would change things if my jurisdiction all depends on my address.

TL:DR, Wanted intel but not available, told to consider comm if I want skills and a clearance. Can anyone vouch for this advice?

Thanks for any insight!
