Idea: Notification Syncing and History

While distracting myself from studying for the two exams I have this week, I came up with two ideas to make Android notifications even better:

Notification Syncing Across Devices

This is only relevant for people with multiple devices

I don't have very many apps that give me notifications besides the usual: Gmail, SMS, Talk, calls, voicemail, etc. I also have a sports app that gives me notifications about when my teams start playing, end of period scores, overtime, etc. What annoys me is that when I'm using one device and dismiss the notification, say for when my team started playing, it isn't dismissed on my other device.

Don't even get me started on Talk or Google Voice. Even clearing the notification WITHIN the app doesn't clear it on other devices. If I go to use my tablet after a few days of non-use, I see Talk messages that I had already responded to days ago...this is a whole different issue.

From my use, Gmail seems to be the only app that I use on both of my devices that this works on, but it is very limited. I have to have cleared the notification within the app itself. Clearing the notification on one device doesn't clear it on the other. Opening the app, thus clearing the notification, does not clear it on the other either. The only way to clear the notification is to open the email itself, sync with Gmail, and then the notification clears on the other device when it syncs with Gmail.

Wouldn't it be great if you could just swipe away a notification for something, such as a news story, email, sports score, or whatever else you get notifications for, and not have to see the exact same notification on your other device?

If you're against this, it could even be a sync option in the settings menu just like Calendar, Contacts, etc.

Notification History

What do you do when you clear a notification by accident without seeing what it was first, or cleared a notification and forgot what it was? This isn't something that happens to me often, but there really isn't a way of seeing what it was unless you know the app that the notification was from, which isn't too big of a deal, but any potential problems could be avoided if there was a way of seeing your notification history.

It could be an app all by itself, a settings menu, or possibly just a tap away in the notification shade. You could access all of your previous notifications for a certain period of time and be able to manage them, i.e. permanently delete them, create persistent ones/re-add them to the notification shade as reminders, etc.

These are just two random ideas I had...so they may not be very well thought out. Let me know what you think!
