Have ships become flimsier in a recent update?

Downloaded the game on Steam after getting my key and started playing again, been away for a few months.

Suddenly it feels like my ships are very easily broken. A simple build of 5 large orange tanks stuck together used to work fine, now they fall apart shortly after launch without a ton of struts attached.

Also I docked a small ship to a large ship in orbit, as soon as the large ship accelerated the smaller ship detached and crashed into the large ship.
