Quick question about the ball boy/man

Hey guys native New Yorker here who is at school at one of the numerous schools here in boston and today I went to only my second game at Fenway. I splurged and got 3rd row seats on the third base side right behind the away bat boy. Now the home bat boy got every single foul ball that stayed on the field and he would deny numerous little kids and give the ball to thins 60 year old man in the front row. I have no problem if he does this once but he did this with at least 25 balls and the guy left with a duffle bag of balls in the 8th. Does anyone know if this man works for the team? or is the bat boy just an asshole that gives balls to his old friend?
