Back surgery made me gain 62 pounds since 2009. Found this reddit, and need help.
I had spinal fusions and injections starting in 2009. I was 19 when it started. I am 5'11 and weighed 191. I have always had weight issues. In high school I was very fat, and because of this I went on to lose a lot of weight very rapidly once living on my own.
Losing the weight was done partially because I was totally broke, and had no money for food. The other part was that I refused to eat more than one meal every day, and I had to walk close to 5 miles a day to get to my house and back. It was the first time in my life I felt beautiful, and men started paying attention to me.

I went to therapy because I could tell that not eating was probably indication of something bad going on inside my head. Through it my therapist decided that if I could at least eat a vegetarian diet everyday I could be healthy. I agreed and this went pretty good. I did gain some weight but I felt okay.

Then 2009 happened. I had an injury at work that caused a disc to rupture. I was in an out of the hospital for the next few years.
My active life changed to painfully sitting in front of the computer everyday. The drugs they gave me for pain and depression changed my diet completely. I was taking close to 16 pain pills a day at higher and higher doses.
I was a vegan at the time of the injury. All of the sudden I was eating fast food meat. Lots of soda. I had no income, and was relying on my obese boyfriend's food preparation.
This was compounded by being in a physically abusive relationship with him. When he wasn't complaining about how fat I was getting he was feeding me crap food. It was horrible.
Anyways, the weight came.
I am now 253 pounds.
I left my old relationship after the level of violence got to be too much. I came to my hometown last January and I very quickly fell in love and married a good friend.
I started starving myself again (I know this is a horrible thing to do to yourself and ultimately hurts weight loss goals) in the hopes of losing any of the weight. I was going on walks daily, and then as my back healed onto bike rides.
I lost close to 15 pounds. Then I found out I was pregnant.
I am now 5 months pregnant with a boy (found out yesterday!).
I have been eating regularly since I found that out. And, I know that weight gain is part of the process. But now I am climbing past my previous heaviest weight, and depression is setting in.
I am starting to feel like a slug again. I know this is not a time to be thinking about weight loss, but a time for healthy living. I was hoping someone could point me to a resource or help me on here.
Things I currently eat that I am trying to stop: soda, Sunny D, lots of mozarella cheese, brownies, black tea with milk and sugar, ice cream, bread.
I don't want this to sound like a sob story. I am motivated to get healthy again, and to do it in a way that will not hurt me or my child. I have been walking 2-3 times a week, but that is about all of the physical activity I do now.
