Star wars novels - question.

I was wondering if any of the novels stand out in terms of adult content and tackling mature themes. I would like to see a gritty, darker approach to the star wars universe and I haven't explored all the titles available (there are so many) so I hope there is something out there for me. Does anyone have any suggestions they could help me with?

EDIT* Thank you all, for the great suggestions.
