A keyboard noob takes apart an unknown keyboard

I have a really old keyboard lying around that I decided to pull apart today (I'm not very knowledgeable keyboardwise). I tried pressing some of the keys and they felt different (I use exclusively membrane keyboards AFAIK). When I press the keys there is a somewhat noticeable discontinuity in the force required, as well as vibrations when the same point is passed on the way back up.

I decided to clean it up a bit and find out a bit about it, so I can better assess whether the difference between a mechanical keyboard and a membrane is important enough to me to justify the extra $$$(I'm currently looking to upgrade from a keyboard which I think has 2KRO).

Unfortunately I can't plug this keyboard in to test it out. It has a plug which is neither PS/2 or USB. The plug looks a lot like this. Picture of actual plug. Can anyone tell me of a cheap way to somehow plug this in to a modern computer?

The keyboard does not bear a brand name on the front. On the rear there is a label that states "Focus Electronic CO., LTD." among some other numbers and things.

On to the actual switches. I have no idea what I'm looking at, perhaps someone here can tell me about them. Here's a rubbish quality phone pic. I'd especially like to know if these are at all similar to any of the cherry MX switches.

If anyone can tell me anything about this keyboard that'd be great.
