Benzyl Peroxide and Acne

I'm new to this forum, but I've been treating my face with Salicylic Acid for a couple years and tried cutting dairy out of my diet the past few weeks (which has done nothing unfortunately). Unless my searching skills are terrible, I haven't seen any posts about Benzyl Peroxide and cancer. However these articles make it seem quite dangerous:

Is there any reason it is still advised to use benzyl peroxide? The risk of cancer seems to outweigh the benefits in my opinion.
