Does each "honeybee individual" have ability to make its own individual choice(s) /decision(s)? "Is the honeybees' democracy carried out via" the ""choice/decision by each individual honeybee" to ""participate in" & uphold" that honeybee democracy"?

As Bill Johnson stated in "his answer on Quora" to this question: "they are born with a set of genetic instructions about how to serve in the hive, which is managed by a queen.". That is how honeybees are hivemind (hive mind). Humans are not born with a set of genetic instructions about how to serve in a hive. Humans are not hivemind (hive mind).

…recent research has showed that honeybees are quite selective. What is this? "Honeybees choose certain plants as their food resources, and these choices differ among time points and, within a time point, even among bee colonies within the same apiary.

Regarding, in general, the topic of "mobs and mob mentality" relative to "hivemind or democracy": Each mob is comprised of "each individual who ""participates in" and upholds" that mob". Mob mentality is when people adjust their personal views (as in: each individual's views) to fit the group they're in. Sometimes mob members even eliminate each other when an individual member of that mob does "something that the aforementioned mob doesn't accept", for example, Tony Soprano murdered his own mafia member Christopher Moltisanti.
