Some questions from a newbie

Hi,

I have been playing the Crypt of Blood starter set for a while and picked up the Start Collecting Thunderstrike Brotherhood box. I bought it because 1) the models are cool and 2) Xandires Truthseekers had the thunderstrike mark so I thought I could round out the team. I am trying to figure out what the announcement from yesterday means.

The announcement says they are eliminating Paladins(which are the same as decimators?), prosecutors and liberators, which are the bulk of the models in the box.

For me this means, in war cry 2.0 I can use these models as normal. If warcry goes into 3.0, these models are unlikely to get a refreshed stats card. Models that have not been cut from age of sigmar list(for example annhnilators) will likely get a 3.0 stat card. Also, I should not buy any of the canceled warbands(such as the unmade) because they are unlikely to be supported in the future, but I am ok to buy the still produced warbands(khanite shadowstalkers) because they will likely be supported in 3.0.

Is this the right take?

Battletech has been my game of choice for a long time and things operate quite differently there. It seems like gamesworkshop does this fairly regularly so what will work in the future might be somewhat predictable.
