Black Carpenter Ants

Has anyone else noticed quite a few black carpenter ants this past week? We normally get them more in July, but I have killed quite a few these past two days. Not sure if they are coming from the attic as there were a few in one of our light fixtures, but that was a couple of days ago and so far so good there. After we noticed them there we have killed quite a few in the kitchen or surrounding area.

I will lay some ant traps around and see if that helps!
