Noticing A Trend In This Group

I find it very interesting that conflicting views in this group are getting downvoted so much. It is one thing to not agree, or not upvote - but to downvote anytime people have a differing opinion? Seems a little odd and aggressive to me. Isn't the whole point of reddit to discuss and engage?
