Can someone tell me why discoveries of new "Earth-like" planets renders religious faith invalid? If folks want to believe that God (or Gods) created and 'preside' over Earth, then why could such entities not 'preside' over a greater domain, such as the universe beyond what we know exists?
It seems that most of the early posts here are about particular faith (it seems, mainly focused on the Bible. My point is not to stimulate a discussion on the value or accuracy of religion, but rather to ask the question of why folks seem to think that science can provide us with any "final" answers on these things. It seems to me that science just makes the playing field bigger, but it does not (nor can it IMO) answer the ultimate questions of the origins of life as we know it. Strive as we may, I feel that man's quest for this understanding will forever elude him.
