Debating MacBook Storage Options for Video Editing: 1TB vs. 2-4TB SSDs?

Hey there! I'm considering getting the m3 max MacBook, but I'm unsure about settling for the 1TB SSD. It just feels a bit limiting. I'm tempted to go for it instead of splurging on the 2TB or 4TB models, which are significantly pricier. I get that external drives are an option, but I'm worried about the practicalities. What if I want to edit while sitting on my lap? Where would I put the external drive? It seems like it would end up dangling or awkwardly placed. Also, what are your thoughts on storing files on both an external drive and the laptop for a backup copy? And in terms of speed, is editing on the internal SSD always faster than using an external drive? Could you help weigh the pros and cons of going with a 1TB drive versus a 2-4TB drive?
