The system is bullshit.

The ex-wife is so “poor” that she gets free health care. Discounted electrical service. $10 internet.

I have to pay full price for those things, while giving the ex-wife $816 a month, which works out to be 27.2% of my take-home pay. And despite her, and by extension our daughter, receiving Medicaid, I’m still required to carry the family plan on my health insurance, dental, and vision plans, which is significantly more expensive than just covering myself.

And that’s not even mentioning the other advantages she has. Parents own her house and ‘rent’ it to her at cost. If she needs help financially, her parents will give it to her. I don’t have anyone who would help me.

And because I have to work so much to support my ex-wife, and I can’t afford child care on top of child support, I get to see my daughter once or twice a week.

I go to work for the most cancerous workplace in the world, sweating my ass off and hating every waking moment. I can’t even consider switching jobs to something I don’t hate as much unless I can be sure I make close to the same amount of money or more. The system won’t adjust child support if you leave a job by choice. I barely have enough money left over to eat every day. And of course, the debt collectors are all coming after me for all the stupid debt I took on during our marriage, which of course I came out of the marriage with all the responsibility for. So I’m going to lose another 20% or whatever they can garnish, because I’m somehow too “rich” (LOL!) to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and can’t afford Chapter 12 payments would be. And when I lose that extra 20%? Well, I’ll be living in my homeless and living in my car, I guess.

Kind of hard to figure out why I shouldn’t just blow my brains out at this point. (In before the "don't kill yourself, reddit cares! bullshit message)

I got fucked over so hard because I couldn’t afford a lawyer – her parents paid for hers.

But hey, she’s happy and is financially secure. Only had to destroy one man’s life to get there. Good job, legal system.

Don’t get married, men. Just don’t do it. There’s a small chance it would work out, but it’s equally as likely you’ll be left with no reason to live.
