Info about Soka Gakkai

I've been studying Buddhism for a while, and recently found out someone I know is a member of a branch of Buddhism from Japan called Soka Gakkai. I was just wondering what the general opinion is of this type of Buddhism, good or bad, and how it differs from other branches of Buddhism.

Thanks!
